A strong wind blew, causing his golden hair to flutter wildly in the air, and his cold eyes were filled with the fury of a raging lion. His legs were gone. In their place were two gleaming blades, shining in the sunlight.
Standing atop the pavilion, he looked down.
This man was none other than Golden Lion Shiki, one of the Three Legendary Pirates.
Beneath his feet, a massive island floated, surrounded by four or five smaller islands. Unlike when he stormed Marineford and countless ships filled the sky around him, Golden Lion Shiki’s weapons had changed.
Now, his weapons were islands.
“This time, I won’t lose to you again… Kojin!” Golden Lion Shiki glared fiercely and growled.
It was easy to imagine the terrifying destruction these floating islands could cause if he controlled them to fall from the sky.
First, however, he needed to find the location of the G-18 Fortress, where his opponent was stationed.
That would take some time.
…
Meanwhile, on the flying ship fleet.
“I’ve also studied your Goro Goro no Mi. Perhaps I can integrate abilities like electric discharge into the Lineage Factor,” Vegapunk said excitedly.
His mind was filled with ideas, many of which seemed entirely possible after careful consideration.
“If we also integrate your Rokushiki and swordsmanship… Then the clone created from this Lineage Factor will be born with tremendous power!”
Kojin clearly understood as he listened to him. Without a doubt, this was the Seraphim project that Vegapunk would create in the future:
Clones based on the Seven Warlords of the Sea fused with Lineage Factors.
“Do you want one? I could create one for you first, as an experiment,” Vegapunk asked again.
Hearing this, Kojin frowned slightly and voiced his concern.
“Will these clones have independent consciousness?”
“Are you joking?”
“I’m not a god. Creating consciousness or souls would be the work of a creator.”
“At most, I can extract some of your thoughts and mental patterns and give them a limited level of awareness,” Vegapunk replied, glaring.
“Then how controllable are they?” Kojin asked again.
“You can rest assured. They will strictly obey the commands you give them.” Vegapunk answered confidently.
“In fact, if we incorporate the unique abilities of your Goro Goro no Mi, such as electromagnetic force, we could achieve remote, synchronized control.”
“That sounds excellent.”
Only then did Kojin’s furrowed brows relax.
If the Seraphim clones developed their own consciousness and betrayed him, it would be extremely troublesome.
“If you put it that way… I’m starting to get interested.” Kojin said with a smile.
His Goro Goro no Mi already allowed him to create Thunder Puppets. If these Lineage Factor clones could function like Thunder Puppets, he would gain an entirely new source of power.
Technology changes the world.
There was no doubt about Vegapunk’s genius.
In the future, he would build terrifying weapons for the World Government, weapons capable of destroying an island with a single strike.
Clearly, science and technology were immense powers in this world.
That was precisely why Kojin intended to keep Vegapunk firmly on his side. After some time, the fleet of flying ships arrived at Upper Yard.
“Skypiea?!”
“You actually built a research base here!”
“This is amazing!”
Vegapunk exclaimed excitedly when he saw the enormous laboratory built in Shandora.
“Here, no one will interfere with your experiments. The Shandians and the natives won’t come close, and I’ll also assign an elite force to protect you,” Kojin said with a smile.
“Excellent! I really like this place!” Vegapunk replied with satisfaction.
Then, his eyes rolled mischievously as he chuckled.
“Kojin, you’ll need to stay here for a while. I need to test and analyze your Lineage Factor. That will allow me to further improve the clone project.”
Kojin nodded and didn’t refuse. He could consider it his own small sacrifice for science.
Soon afterward, Vegapunk entered full scientist mode.
With the help of his assistants, various precise instruments and valuable materials were quickly arranged. That afternoon, Kojin was asked to demonstrate the power of the Goro Goro no Mi.
“Use electric discharge,” Vegapunk said.
Kojin complied, pointing forward. A straight line of blue lightning shot out and slammed forward with a loud bang.
Vegapunk nodded and recorded the data.
“And your Rokushiki and swordsmanship data as well.”
Kojin followed the instructions one by one. He found an open area and punched a mountain apart. Then, he swung his blade and split the White Sea open.
Vegapunk was visibly surprised before he nodded again.
“The stronger you are, the more perfect our Seraphim project will become. In the future, they will be the most powerful weapons you have.”
Kojin asked curiously. “Can the Seraphim really possess my swordsmanship and Rokushiki?”
“You’re extremely powerful. So achieving one hundred percent might not be possible. But even if they start with fifty percent of your strength, that will already be more than enough.” Vegapunk said with admiration.
He had never truly understood his friend’s strength until today.
It was only while collecting this data that he realized how terrifying Kojin’s power actually was.
Immediately afterward, Vegapunk collected cell samples and blood from Kojin’s body.
“I’ll immediately begin training the Seraphim. I’ll inject a certain emotion or desire of yours into it. That way, they will possess a portion of your consciousness and be able to act independently.”
After a pause, Vegapunk explained further.
“But you don’t need to worry. They are merely derivatives of you. In essence, they are still artificial humans. You will have the most control over them.”
Kojin nodded.
He found it somewhat novel and was surprised by Vegapunk’s rapid progress. After all, the Seraphim didn’t appear until nearly twenty years later in the original timeline, yet now they were being created so quickly.
“Because this uses a DNA cultivation method, their bodies may be somewhat physically weak. As for how much power they can ultimately display, I can’t predict that yet,” Vegapunk said.
Kojin felt anticipation build in his heart, so he decided to stay for a few more days.
Five days later, a 1.8-meter-tall body appeared before them. Its skin was brown, its hair was white, and its eyes were tightly shut.
“You can give him a name. This is your first Seraphim clone, Kojin,” Vegapunk said with a smile.
He began examining the body, occasionally tapping its abdomen and limbs.
“A name?” Kojin’s eyes flickered before he spoke.
“Zeus.”
Vegapunk was briefly stunned, then laughed.
“That’s a great name. I still need to modify it and add some attributes. For example, I want to enable it to use certain abilities of the Goro Goro no Mi. Of course, replicating a Logia Devil Fruit is extremely difficult. I’ve been researching it for two years and can only reproduce part of it.”
Kojin nodded.
He was curious to see how far this genius scientist could push things.
Soon after, he watched Vegapunk skillfully open the clone’s body and install strange, unknown metals inside.
At that moment, it was confirmed beyond a doubt… The first-generation Seraphim was indeed a cyborg.
On the third day, Vegapunk finished the modifications.
The Seraphim opened its eyes.
Its gaze swept across the people present, sending a chill down their spines.
“Whoosh!”
Flames ignited behind its back, flickering and wavering. At the same time, blue-purple light glowed within its pupils as if lightning were flashing inside them.
“My name is Zeus. I represent… Evil.”
Without a doubt, the Seraphim before them seemed to be the embodiment of evil.
Kojin quickly felt a strange connection to the clone. It felt as if the being had been born from his own bloodline.
With just a single thought, he could command it.
“Quick, test his abilities, Kojin!” Vegapunk urged excitedly.
Kojin nodded and moved his mind slightly. In an instant, the Seraphim’s body flickered, and he rushed out of the base.
Lightning crackled around him, and he moved with astonishing speed.
However, Kojin instantly noticed that Zeus lacked elemental transformation, meaning his maximum speed couldn’t match Kojin’s.
With a motion of his hand, a Thunder Blade appeared in Zeus’s grasp. His body then blurred as he punched into the air, producing a roaring gust of wind.
Next, he drew his blade and slashed.
“Buzz!”
The White Sea split apart, leaving a deep, visible trench.
“Rokushiki and swordsmanship are about sixty percent of my mastery. He also has the characteristics of the Lunarian tribe, which allow him to generate flames to increase his speed. As for the Goro Goro no Mi abilities, they are limited.”
Kojin watched Zeus perform technique after technique, his eyes gleaming thoughtfully.
After more than ten seconds, lightning flashed around Zeus, and he appeared instantly in front of Kojin.
Kojin struck.
Boom!
The two collided, and Zeus was blasted backward.
“His body strength is about twenty percent of mine, and he cannot use Haki.”
Kojin stepped forward, instantly appearing in front of Zeus again and throwing a casual punch.
Zeus tilted his head slightly. The flames behind him were extinguished, and he suddenly sped up.
He dodged Kojin’s punch with extreme precision.
“Impressive! With scientific calculations predicting the opponent’s movements and the assistance of an electromagnetic field… It has achieved a level comparable to Observation Haki. In this regard, he might even surpass me.” Kojin praised.
He increased the speed of his attacks.
Zeus dodged every move perfectly.
Meanwhile, Vegapunk stood nearby, rapidly recording combat data, with a hint of excitement shining in his eyes.
“This is only the first-generation Seraphim! And it’s already this powerful! Combining the Lineage Factor with cybernetics, this approach was absolutely correct! If we collect more samples from powerful fighters and integrate them, the Seraphim will gain more abilities!”
When the battle ended, he ran toward Kojin.
“Kojin, I need more Lineage Factors from powerful individuals.”
Kojin looked stunned, then sighed.
“Where exactly do you expect me to get those?”
“I don’t care. That’s your problem,” Vegapunk replied.
“Oh, and for Zeus, I’ve already set the authority levels. You are the highest authority, and I’m second.”
Kojin nodded, not particularly concerned. Then he suddenly thought of something and turned toward Zeus.
The handsome 1.8-meter Seraphim with long white hair looked somewhat similar to Kojin and showed a puzzled expression.
“Zeus. I need you to go to Wano Country. Find a man named Kozuki Oden.”
He paused.
“Bring him back. Dead or alive.”
