After the practice match had ended, Shimokawa Mitsuto secretly called Akashi Asuto over to one side and asked him in a low voice:
“Asuto, has everything at home been all right recently?”
“???”
Asuto was baffled, with several question marks practically popping up over his head.
“I think… everything’s fine? I haven’t noticed any problems.”
Shimokawa’s sudden question made Asuto start to doubt himself a little.
Could something really have happened to his family? But he hadn’t heard anything about the original owner’s parents having problems. Could it be his cheap older sister?
Asuto’s expression caused Shimokawa Mitsuto and Tanno Sae to quietly exchange a glance.
Neither of them said anything more. They simply nodded, telling Asuto to leave first before immediately turning around and calling his parents.
After a lengthy conversation, the two finally confirmed that the changes in Asuto recently had little to do with his family situation.
“If it’s not family, then could it be romance?” Shimokawa suddenly proposed another theory.
Hearing this, Tanno Sae thought carefully for a moment but ultimately shook her head.
Although Japan was fairly tolerant of junior high school students dating, Tanno Sae’s impression was that, despite being quite popular, Asuto was still single.
Tanno Sae actually paid quite a lot of attention to Asuto.
It just wasn’t exactly positive attention.
After all, the title of ‘delinquent youth’ might sound cool to boys of fourteen or fifteen, but from a teacher’s perspective, a ‘delinquent youth’ like Asuto was far more troublesome than an idiot like Omae Masato.
Omae Masato: “Was that really necessary?”
· · · · · ·
Asuto had no idea that the changes caused by his transmigration had led Shimokawa Mitsuto and Tanno Sae to imagine so many things.
At that moment, after training had ended, he was playing video games with a group of friends.
A bunch of people crowded together, fighting over just a few controllers; that was the true essence of gaming.
The days of the training camp passed one after another.
Asuto’s various stats were also increasing at a visibly rapid speed.
Especially his basic techniques.
Due to the intensity and schedule of the training camp, Asuto barely gained any Involution Grind Value throughout the entire camp. However, for these basic techniques that hadn’t even reached the passing line yet, high-intensity training was actually no less effective than improving them using [Involution Grind Value].
In fact, by the end of the training camp, Asuto suspected that this might be the best way to use [Involution Grind Value].
First, improve a skill stat that is still very low through high-intensity training.
Then, once ordinary training no longer produces much progress, use the accumulated [Involution Grind Value] from previous training sessions to break through the talent limit.
After the two-week training camp ended, Asuto’s status panel had practically been completely refreshed.
Host: Akashi Asuto
Strength: 76.1 [Core Strength: 75.4; Arm Strength: 76.8]
Speed: 72.7 [Burst Speed: 73; Reaction Speed: 72.4]
Stamina: 74.2 [Endurance: 74; Cardiopulmonary Fitness: 74.4]
Jump: 74.3 [Vertical jump: 76.6; hang time: 72]
Basic techniques: 66.8 [Serve: 65.2; Receive: 64.6; Pass: 58; Spike: 76; Block: 72.2; Defence: 65]
Advanced skills: [None]
After two weeks of training camp, another stat above 75 had been added to Asuto’s panel:
Core Strength.
This attribute is extremely important for volleyball players.
Once Asuto’s Core Strength broke through 75, the power of his spikes increased by at least another level.
Aside from that, his various basic techniques had all basically reached above-average standards.
The only exception was his passing technique, though that wasn’t much of an issue.
After all, as an outside hitter/ace spiker, there were few opportunities for Asuto to perform passes. Even when he rotated to the back row to participate in first-touch receives, what was mainly tested was receiving skill, which fell under the categories of [Receive] and [Defence].
This was also why Asuto’s passing skill improved so slowly.
After the training camp ended, all the members of the volleyball club happily returned home.
Omae Masato and the others loved club activities.
But, as middle school students, they loved holidays even more.
In theory, if they spent the entire month-and-a-half-long summer holiday on intensive training, the strength of the entire volleyball club would definitely increase significantly in a very short time.
But that was only in theory.
Even professional athletes have an off-season every year. It was obviously nothing more than a fantasy to expect a bunch of fifteen- or sixteen-year-old teenagers to give up the final summer holiday of their time at junior high school for training camp.
Sengoku Junior High School was incapable of doing such a thing, and probably no other middle school in the country could achieve it either.
The only exception would be third-year high school students, for whom there might still be a slight possibility.
In fact, not even Asuto himself, a person with an adult soul in a teenage body, could spend the entirety of such a rare holiday purely training.
At most, he could dedicate about two-thirds of the time to it.
After returning home, Asuto immediately noticed that there was one more person in the house than usual.
“Yo! Asuto, welcome back.”
“I’m home.”
Asuto looked at the girl sprawled across the sofa in loose shorts and with messy hair and an utterly ungraceful posture, and then calmly responded,
Akashi Kana.
The original Asuto’s older sister by birth. She is currently a second-year high school student.
She normally didn’t live at home. Because her high school was quite far from the family house, and their parents were busy with work, commuting back and forth every day would have been nothing but a waste of time, so she simply rented a place near the school instead.
This was fairly common in Japan.
From the original owner’s memories, Asuto could roughly determine that his relationship with Kana had been completely ordinary sibling dynamics.
The kind where they could get along perfectly well after not seeing each other for a while, but if they stayed together for more than three days, they would definitely start fighting.
After greeting Kana, Asuto took his school bag and other belongings to his room before heading to the bathroom for a shower.
After all, he had just finished training and was drenched in sweat.
“Asuto, are you done showering yet? What would you like to eat tonight?”
“I’m already done. I’ll be out in a second.”
Bang!
Before Asuto could finish speaking, the bathroom door was suddenly flung open with a loud bang.
Asuto, who had just put on his trousers and was about to put on his shirt, froze instantly.
Kana, standing in the doorway, froze as well.
Asuto had never expected the original owner’s sister to behave so aggressively.
As for Kana, she was simply dazzled by Asuto’s muscles.
After all, Asuto had already had a pretty good physique to begin with. With the recent increase in the intensity and scientific nature of his training, his physique had been changing practically day by day.
Now that his Arm and Core Strength had both broken past 75, the muscles around his shoulders and waist were sharply defined and exuded masculinity.
The atmosphere fell silent for about one or two seconds.
Then, Kana suddenly began walking towards Asuto, step by step.
Without even the slightest hint of embarrassment, she reached out and pinched this muscle, touched that muscle, while a veteran-driver-like grin gradually spread across her face.
“Tsk tsk tsk~~~ Who would’ve thought that after only a few months apart, my little brother’s body would become this good? Your big sis was seriously stunned for a second there. Looks like your future girlfriend’s gonna be one lucky girl!”
Asuto: “…”
‘Original owner, and you called this a normal sibling relationship?’
