At that moment, time itself seemed to come to a halt. Everything around fell into an eerie silence, even the wind appeared to stop blowing. Even the air felt frozen solid, so heavy that it was hard to breathe.
Just moments ago, everyone had been helplessly toyed with by Beerus. But now, they all stared wide-eyed in utter disbelief at what had just happened before them.
They could hardly trust what their eyes were seeing, the God of Destruction Beerus, whom no one had managed to even touch no matter how they attacked, had just been struck squarely in the face by Vegeta!
And that punch… had landed solidly on Beerus’s proud, untouchable face.
It wasn’t only Goku and the others who were shocked beyond words, even Vegeta himself found it hard to believe the power of the blow he’d just delivered. He stared blankly at his own fist, still pressed against Beerus’s cheek, as though that hand no longer belonged to him.
In that still, silent tableau, only Vegeta’s fist and Beerus’s face remained locked together, a sight so surreal it left everyone stunned.
“V–Vegeta… how did you do that?” Goku blinked in astonishment, gazing at Vegeta’s hand like a curious child.
But even Vegeta had no clear answer. All he had done was let his rage explode, and his power had surged uncontrollably once again.
Beside them, Gohan’s face was filled with confusion. He could feel that Vegeta’s energy had risen, yes, but having personally experienced Beerus’s overwhelming might before, he couldn’t help but doubt what he had just witnessed.
Vegeta didn’t respond to Goku’s question. Instead, he shot Beerus an irritated glare, only for Beerus, whose eyes had been closed tight as if lost in slumber, to suddenly snap them open without warning.
At that moment, Vegeta’s fist was still firmly pressed against Beerus’s face. And yet, astonishingly, even such a close-range, full-force blow had not managed to knock him back in the slightest.
That alone was enough to show just how terrifying Beerus’s power truly was.
Then, everyone noticed something strange, a faint twitch appeared at the corner of Beerus’s eye, and on that perpetually calm, cold face, there flickered a rare trace of frustration.
But in the very next instant, Beerus stepped back lightly, pulling his face away from Vegeta’s fist.
His pupils trembled almost imperceptibly, then his eyes slid shut once again, as if the whole thing had never happened.
Suddenly, Beerus let out a thunderous roar that shook the heavens: “COME! CONTINUE YOUR ATTACKS!!”
His voice boomed like a divine bell, majestic, overwhelming, brimming with absolute authority and dominance.
The unexpected outburst left Goku and the others utterly bewildered. None of them could fathom what this self-proclaimed God of Destruction was planning.
Only Whis, watching quietly from below, understood perfectly. He thought to himself with a wry smile: “Hehehe… it seems Lord Beerus truly is a stubborn one. But alas… what he’s attempting now… is nothing short of taboo.”
At that instant, something within Vegeta suddenly clicked. The sight before him made everything clear. He finally understood the true purpose behind Beerus’s strange behavior all along.
Beerus hadn’t been blinded or harmed by the Solar Flare at all. On the contrary, he had shut his eyes deliberately, continuing to observe and gauge their strength and reactions from within the darkness.
The realization that they’d merely been test subjects in Beerus’s eyes, that all of this had been nothing more than an experiment, filled Vegeta with furious indignation.
From the very start, Beerus had never stopped testing them, provoking, taunting, measuring their limits again and again.
And so, Vegeta made up his mind. If Beerus truly wanted to test their limits… then so be it, he would grant him exactly what he desired!
Vegeta lunged toward Beerus again without a moment’s hesitation, unleashing another fierce wave of attacks. At the same time, the others quickly followed his lead, Gohan, Goten, Bulla, and Goku all joined the assault in unison.
Yet, even as they surrounded him from every direction, Beerus appeared utterly at ease, moving with effortless grace. In that instant, he had once again found that familiar feeling, the sensation of complete control, of commanding the entire battlefield as if it were a dance.
Every strike thrown at him missed by a hair’s breadth. Every blast, every kick, every punch, all slipped past him as though he were made of smoke. His movements were fluid, calm, and unhurried, the embodiment of mastery.
But then, amid the chaos of battle, Goku suddenly stopped. Without warning, he withdrew his attack and floated silently in midair. He thought to himself, “If no matter how I attack, I can’t touch him… maybe it’s better to stop and watch carefully for a while.”
There was something about Beerus’s current state that made Goku feel strangely exhilarated. Because in that moment, Goku realized, Beerus wasn’t dodging through conscious calculation. He was evading purely on instinct.
“Ahhh!!” Vegeta’s roar seemed to split the sky as he once again forced his energy to its limit, his aura erupting like a storm, shaking the sky with an earth-shattering scream.
And it was precisely that sudden flare of energy that caused Beerus’s body to twitch, just slightly, but enough to be seen.
That faint tremor broke through the godlike composure he had maintained all along, a subtle flaw in an otherwise perfect defense. If not for Beerus’s lightning-fast reflexes, Vegeta’s punch might have landed cleanly.
As the saying goes: “Those in the midst of battle are blind; the onlooker sees clearly.”
Having ceased his own attack, Goku now saw everything with startling clarity, as if enlightened by a sudden revelation.
He focused his entire being on observing every detail of Beerus’s movements, imprinting them deeply in his mind.
And soon, Goku understood the mystery behind Beerus’s state.
Beerus had kept his eyes closed this whole time, placing himself in a condition where he had lost his sense of sight entirely. But precisely because of that, his other senses had sharpened dramatically, especially his hearing, which had become preternaturally acute.
Goku’s eyes widened.
“So that’s it… Beerus’s transcendent state isn’t stable at all,” he realized. “He shut off his vision, making his other senses, like hearing, overly sensitive. That’s how he’s been moving like that!”
Yet another question troubled him. But… why? Why would Beerus do that? He wasn’t blinded by the Solar Flare…
He couldn’t make sense of it, but one thing was clear: they needed to break this stalemate, and fast.
The image of Beerus relying solely on muscle memory flashed through Goku’s mind, then shattered. That so-called “transcendent state” was nothing more than a surface illusion, powerful, yes, but imperfect.
Having reached this realization, Goku already had a plan.
He suddenly flared his Ki, his power exploding outward like a volcano. Then, imitating Vegeta’s earlier outburst, he began to shout at the top of his lungs.
“AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!”
His energy surged, his aura igniting like molten fire, and in a blazing burst of red and gold, Goku transformed into Super Saiyan 4 Full Power.
But his shouting didn’t stop there. His roar only grew louder, echoing through the heavens, as if he were calling upon something far greater than raw power itself.
